Genesis 4:3-12

1. Quality of life is always sacrificed when we resist God’s correction. Remember, it’s right to be wrong when you’re arguing with God!
2. We become vulnerable to the power of evil when we reject what is true. Truth usually stings, but in the end it is our hope and ally.
3. Evil is a spiritual force facilitated by a person who seeks to master us. Freedom is the usual facade.
4. Our primary need is to rule over evil in our day-to-day lives. A primary desire of God is to enable this in us.
5. When we fly in the face of God’s instruction/correction, evil enslaves us.

Genesis 1:26-28

How We’re Made

1. We were specially made—not fashioned from other life forms.
2. We are like God—resembling Him not primarily other life forms.
3. We are male and female, resembling God in community more so than independently.

Our Legacy—to be blest, which means:

1. To live in perfect community with God.
2. To live in perfect community with each other.
3. To live in perfect community with creation.

In a nutshell it is to rule His creation for Him.

Our reality—Our legacy was compromised. But this did not surprise or thwart God. Five key ideas you should ponder are:

1. Revelation—God making known to us the truth about Himself and us.
2. Redemption—God’s work that will restore our legacy.
3. Justification—what happens in humanity through Jesus’ death to get restoration started.
4. Sanctification—the process the Holy Spirit carries out in us that helps us experience this restoration.
5. Belief—the thing we must do and continue to do. There is always more about God to believe and trust.
